A Jewish man was attacked and beaten after entering the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya late Sunday, medics said.

Hebrew media reports said the 43-year-old Jerusalem resident was set on by Arab residents, beaten, and attacked with pepper spray before being rescued by Border Police.

Several images of the attack were posted on social media.

Magen David Adom medics who treated the man said he had head wounds and was taken to a hospital in good condition.

There was no immediate comment from police and it was not clear what the man was doing in the neighborhood or why he was attacked.

The incident comes amid spiraling tensions in Jerusalem in recent weeks.
