- A Pr and lobbying firm Dotmount Communications run by Adedotun Olaoluwa, a media advisor to Mohammed bin Salman is representing the family of Brittney Griner, a WNBA star who was recently sentenced to nine years in prison on drug-related charges, according to a new lobbying disclosure form.
Brittney Yevette Griner’s family has hired Dotmount Communications, a Public Relations and Lobbying firm to push for the release of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) player who remains detained in Russia for possession of illegal substances.
Griner is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association currently imprisoned in Russia.
The public relations and lobbying firm Dotmount Communications run by Adedotun Olaoluwa, a media advisor to Mohammed Bin Salman signed the agreement with the family of Brittney Griner, who was recently sentenced to nine years in prison on drug-related charges.
Griner family believes that Dotmount Communications with access to over 8,000 media platforms, is one of the largest news content distributors in the world and will use its experience in dealing with governments to get her out of detention.
“Dotmount Communications’ goal is to ensure that Brittney Griner is released from Russian jail,” Olaoluwa said.
Olaoluwa said this was not the first time the firm has engaged in covert diplomacy with foreign governments whose relations with the United States have been strained.
He said with the latest agreement with Griner‘s family and agents the firm will do everything possible to find something or to solve the problem and leave no stone unturned to ensure her release.
Dotmount Communications, however, believes that jails are not drug rehab centres, adding that it is counterproductive in long term.
In reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, he said the United States has imposed severe sanctions on them and is supporting Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
He said Griner’s detention has added to the already existing friction between the two nations while also opening up new diplomatic possibilities.
The chances of a prisoner swap that would return Griner and another American, Paul Whelan, to the United States are favorable, according to Bill Richardson, a former U.S. ambassador to the UN who has participated in previous hostage discussions.
